Description
Summary:This article analyzes Occupy Newfoundland and Labrador’s protest occupation of Harbourside Park, St. John’s, as a performance of endurance. The author compares endurance protest dramaturgy to the carnivalesque dramaturgy of theatrical representation and the volcanic dramaturgy of violent disorder used in other anti-globalization demonstrations of the past decade. This article focuses on the material conditions and mundane activities of the Harbourside Park camp, and theorizes the everyday as a place of resistance in endurance performances.
