Summary:Abstract The Canadian child welfare system is not one system but many. Each of the 10 provinces and the two territories (Yukon and Northwest Territories) has its own legislation. Further, Aboriginal peoples are in the process of developing agreements with government concerning the way child welfare is funded and delivered. Also, differences between the two founding cultures of Canada, French and English, have resulted in the development of somewhat different approaches to child welfare.
