Description
Summary:Abstract In 1609, Henry Hudson went up the river that bears his name in search of a northwest passage to the Far East. Hudson’s explorations on behalf of the Netherlands took place two years after the English settlement of Jamestown, Virginia, and eleven years before the arrival of the Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock. His journey ended at the river’s headwaters, not far from the present Albany, New York, where he found Indians willing to barter their beaver furs.
