Description
Summary:Nurses in Iceland play a central role in the healthcare system. There is a unique opportunity in Iceland to introduce and implement the principles of integrative nursing due to a very strong, ambitious, and well-educated nursing profession. There was much interest among Icelandic nurses to attend the first integrative nursing symposium held in Reykjavik 2015, which has led to awareness of the principles of integrative nursing. Research has shown an increase in the last few years in the use of integrative therapies and healing practices by nurses to manage symptoms and improve clinical outcomes at the National Hospital. There are, however, still challenges and barriers that need to be overcome.
