Summary: | Abstract In the study, we present the technologies for manufacturing ice and snow blocks, the strength characteristics of which are sufficient for the construction of temporary low-rise structures (warehouses, garages, hangars, caponiers, and others). A technological feature of manufacturing blocks is the possibility to produce them without using specialized equipment. The technological modes of molding blocks and their thermal-physical and strength characteristics are determined. The blocks and a model of a single-story building with 3×4.2×2.3 m dimensions were tested on resistance to warming in the spring period. The results have revealed the possibility of a wide application of the proposed technologies in the North and the Arctic. |
