Description
Summary:Agaue obscura n.sp., a circumpolar Antarctic species, is described. It is closely related to species known from Argentine waters and from deep-sea basins in the south and north Atlantic Ocean. Its legs, gnathosoma, and idiosoma are set with cuticular spinelets and filaments, which trap large amounts of detritus. This detritus coating might protect the mite from visual, tactile, or chemical detection by predators.
