Summary: | One hundred and thirty-eight mammals of 16 species were examined for helminth parasites. A total of 45 animals (32%) of seven species were found to be infected with 18 species of helminths (8 species of cestodes, 10 of nematodes). Examination of canine and equine faecal samples revealed the presence of five other species of nematodes in Newfoundland mammals (two in dogs, three in horses). Diphyllobothrium dendriticum (Nitzsch 1824) was recovered from a cat, this being the first time it has been found in a cat under natural conditions. |
