Description
Summary:In a preliminary reinvestigation of the parasites of arctic foxes (Alopex lagopus) on St. George Island, seven species of intestinal helminths were found. Four of these, viz. Uncinaria stenocephala, Maritrema afanassjewi, Taenia crassiceps, and Echinococcus multilocularis, are recorded for the first time from that locality, and the last three are new records for the fauna of the Pribilof Islands. Recent introduction of these helminths is regarded as improbable. The public health significance of E. multilocularis on St. George Island is briefly discussed.
