Description
Summary:The larvae of the parasitic nematode, Terranova decipiens, from fish muscle will mature to the adult in in-vitro culture. This stage in the life cycle of this nematode normally occurs in the digestive tract of the seal. A rather complex medium was used. This medium was composed of a commercially available tissue culture preparation, Medium 199, to which had been added glucose, beef embryo extract, beef liver extract and antibiotics. The incubation time required for the appearance of the adult nematode in culture was approximately the same as in the seal digestive tract.
