Description
Summary:The distribution of mean annual windspeeds at the stations on the coast, and the near coastal plateau, of Antarctica presents a problem of interpretation which apart from its intrinsic interest, is of practical importance in the use of observations for surface synoptic analysis and forecasting. Further, the mean windspeed pattern may throw light on both the gross features of high-latitude Southern Hemisphere circulation and on local peculiarities of topography adjacent to the station.
