Summary:A new species of the corophiidean amphipod genus Corophium ( sensu stricto ) from the estuary of the Oka River (Basque Country, northern Iberian Peninsula) is presented. Data on the ecology and distribution of the species are included, which is comparable to other species of the genus, but has several differences. Two amendments to the diagnosis of the genus are proposed. A key of the European species of the genus is also included.
