Description
Summary:The taxonomy of six species and one subspecies of Natatolana , which have previously been recorded from the north Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, is reviewed. Natatolana caeca, N. gallica, N. gracilis and N. neglecta are redescribed from the type material. The location of possible type material of N. borealis is reported and a redescription of this species is provided, based on material from the type locality. Natatolana neglecta var. imicola is recognized as a valid species. Natatolana schtnidti is regarded as a junior synonym of N. imicola based on comparison of type material and this material is used to redescribe the species. Distribution records for these species are summarized from examination of material held in various collections and a key to separate these species is provided.
