This species is distinguished from others in the genus by the presence of a large, undivided mouth plate on the anterior nectophore. However, in order to establish the distinctiveness of two other species in this genus, namely C. moserae and C. galeata , which a recent author has suggested should have only sub-specific ranking, the anterior and posterior nectophores of those species are redescribed. |
