Summary: | A new species of the genus Clausophyes (Siphonophora, Calycophora) is described from four anterior nectophores collected in the Southern Ocean. This species is distinguished from others in the genus by the presence of a large, undivided mouth plate on the anterior nectophore. However, in order to establish the distinctiveness of two other species in this genus, namely C. moserae and C. galeata , which a recent author has suggested should have only sub-specific ranking, the anterior and posterior nectophores of those species are redescribed. |
