Studies on the taxonomy of Chironomus islandicus (Kieffer, 1913) (Diptera: Chironomidae)

Abstract A chironomid midge probably identical with Chironomus islandicus (Kieffer) is described. An account of the larval salivary gland chromosomes based on material from Iceland is given. Ch. islandicus and the Greenlandic Ch. hyperboreus Staeger are compared briefly.
