Summary:Abstract This article addresses the first reform of the European Union’s legal regime for fishing of deep-sea stocks in the north-east Atlantic and provisions for fishing in international waters of the north-east Atlantic, as adopted through Regulation ( eu ) 2016/2336. The concept of deep-sea fisheries, a brief description of the work done by the Union so far in relation to the conservation and management of these fish stocks, as well as the specific provisions of this reform are presented.
