22. Perissonoe cruciata (Janisch & Rabenhorst) Andrews & Stoelzel (Fig. 29) Basionym: Amphitetras cruciata Janisch & Rabenhorst. Synonym: Rhaphoneis amphiceros var. cruciata (Janisch & Rabenhorst) Mereschkowsky. Type locality: Honduras. Morphometrics: Valves 20 (21–22) μm in apical length, transapical striae 7 (8) in 10 μm. Remarks: Perissonoe cruciata is distributed between 30 o north and south in tropical and subtropical marine waters of the Indian Ocean, the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean (Andrews & Stoelzel 1984; Watanabe et al. 2007). This location, the Seogwipo coast (33 o 18' N), is the most northern reported so far, assigned to its northern limit. This taxon has been reported from Tanjania (Foged 1975), from Penghu Islands of Taiwan (Li 1978), from Okinawa of Japan (Watanabe et al. 2007), from coral-reefs and farmer-fish areas of Guam, and in the other areas: Cuba (Foged 1984, as Rhaphoneis amphiceros var. tetragona Grunow), Fiji (Foged 1987), Society Islands of French Polynesia, Puerto Rico in Caribbean Sea, the Bahamas in North Atlantic Ocean (Hein et al. 2008, Lobban et al. 2012). It is typical tropical taxon in the warmer ocean coasts. It was found very rarely in the Seogwipo coast in Jeju Island, and newly reported to South Korea.
