Regarding OASIS3-MCT, support was granted to the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center (NERSC, Norway) to implement a coupling between an ocean global configuration and two hemispheric sea ice models, setting the basis of a future NEMO-neXtSIM ocean/sea-ice coupled model. Support was also offered to the UK Meteorological Office (Met Office) to start the development of a 3D coupling between NEMO and the MEDUSA biogeochemistry module. Regarding XIOS, the support provided to the UK Met Office resulted in improved support for unstructured grid in XIOS, directly benefiting the next-generation atmospheric model LFRIC. Also, improvement of XIOS input functionality was realised in support of Mercator Océan (France), motivated by the need to efficiently ead in higher-frequency higher-resolution ERA5 reanalysis fields. Finally, Cylc developers helped two groups one at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling (ICM) in Poland and one at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science (NCAS) in UK, to use more efficiently the Cylc workflow engine in their respective Earth System Model and, for NCAS, to port it on a new architecture (ARCHER2). ESiWACE2 stands for Centre of Excellence in Simulation of Weather and Climate in Europe Phase 2. ESiWACE2 is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (H2020-INFRAEDI-2018-1 call) under grant agreement 823988.
