Perhaps circumpolar, see Baker (1977). STATUS: CITES - Appendix II. SYNONYMS: stornii. COMMENTS: Reviewed by Brownell (1975a, Mammalian Species, 66, as Phocoena dioptrica). Barnes (1985) proposed Australophocaena to house this species. Phocaena obtusata is synonymous with Cephalorhynchus eutropia. See Goodall et al. (1988). Published as part of James G. Mead & Robert L.
