For each of these there are also the average 12 monthly means per model per variable. All fields have been interpolated to a common reference grid of (484,72) points for ease of inter-comparison. Reference bathymetry, and observed mean sea surface height and surface chlorophyll, are provided in bathymetry_rossregion.nc, and meanssh_rossregion.nc and meanchl_rossregion.nc, respectively, and a reference template field for the analysis sub-regions in mdcopytot_subregion_boundaries.nc. These fields have been used to produce Figure 1 in the paper. The fields are all CF-1.4 netcdf compliant. The “list” files show each individual field, 177 for CMIP5 and 189 for CMIP6. The original model datasets and user guidance can be found at https://esgf-node.llnl.gov/projects/cmip5/ and https://esgf-node.llnl.gov/projects/cmip6/ with the model and variable name conventions retained.
