According to the Trichoptera World Checklist (Morse 2001) this genus is known from 5 fossil, 14 extant species and 1 subspecies. A 15th species, L. zwicki , was described by Arefina in 2002. The genus Lype is represented in Russia by 5 species, 3 of which are known from the Russian Far East: L. excisa Mey 1991 from Sakhalin Island; L. daurica Ivanov & Levanidova from Primorye (in Arefina et al. 1996); and, L. zwicki from Khabarovsky Krai. Subsequently, several specimens of this latter species were found in Primorye (Kabarga River, a right tributary of the Ussuri River, Amur River Basin). A new species, Lype lubaretsi n. sp., was collected from the Aldikon River near Norsk Village at a UV light. This river is a left tributary of the Selemdja River, which flows into the Zeya River.
