In Nova Scotia the species is recorded only from Cape Breton Island (C.G. Majka, unpublished data). Found in a large variety of environments on open or half-shaded ground (Larochelle & Larivière 2003). Adults and larvae of Notiophilus prey on Collembola (Ball & Bousquet 2000).
