Collected from off Bahia, at depths from 1044 to 1275 m. It was described from off Martinique and was previously known in the western North Atlantic from the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, Surinam and French Guyana; and in the eastern North Atlantic, from Morocco and the Canary Islands (Cohen et al. 1990; Geistdoerfer 1990; Howes & Crimen 1990).
