Summary:Anatoma Woodward, 1859 Type species. Scissurella crispata Fleming, 1828 (M). Arctic to Antarctic of all oceans, (Cretaceous?) Paleocene though Recent. Remarks. A neotype for the controversial type species was designated by Høisaeter & Geiger (2011), who also pointed out that the distinction of Anatoma and Thieleella Bandel, 1998 can no longer be supported. We follow them and use the single genus Anatoma.
