H . fasciatum (Stossich, 1902) Type host. Eurasian or common curlew, Numenius arquata (Linnaeus) (Charadriiformes: Scolopacidae). Type locality. Europe; specific type locality unknown (specimen from the Museum of Florence, Italy). Additional host. Unidentified charadriiform—Bona et al . (1995). Additional locality. Italy—Bona et al . (1995). Remarks. This species was originally described as Haematotrephus fasciatus Stossich, 1902, but it was transferred to Haematoprimum by Yamaguti (1958). It was considered to be a synonym of Cyclocoelum obscurum (Leidy, 1887) by Joyeux & Baer (1927). It has a pretesticular ovary that forms a triangle with the diagonal testes (Haematotrephinae), the genital pore is postpharyngeal and the vitelline fields are not confluent posteriorly, placing it in Haematotrephus , as originally proposed by Stossich (1902). No rudimentary oral sucker described—Stossich (1902).
