Description
Summary:** Hippolyte coerulescens (Fabricius, 1775) Distributed in the warmer parts of the Atlantic, associated with hyponeuston (d'Udekem d'Acoz 1996). The type locality of Hippolyte martiali A. Milne-Edwards, 1891, a species long placed in the synonymy of H. coerulescens, is the Beagle Channel, off Lupataya in southern Patagonia (A. Milne-Edwards 1891), with specimens stated to have been collected at 198 m. We herein follow Holthuis (1952) and consider these to be mislabelled specimens, and thus consider the species not to be present in the area of interest.
