Byblisoides K.H. Barnard, 1931 Type species. Byblisoides juxtacornis K.H. Barnard, 1931, by monotypy. Byblisoides K.H. Barnard, 1931: 426.— Mills, 1971: 373.— J.L. Barnard & Karaman, 1991: 90. Diagnosis (based on J.L. Barnard & Karaman 1991). Flagellum of antennae 1 and 2 with 4 or fewer articles. Maxilliped palp article 3 not distally produced. Pereopod 7 basis posterior margin angled and expanded ventrally, anterior margin of lobe (close to junction with ischium) setose (usually). Telson longer than broad, deeply cleft. Supplementary characters: head long and generally parallel sided. Head anteroventral corner produced (except in B. profundi). Antenna 1 small, clubbed shaped, not reaching past peduncle of antenna 2. Antenna 2 extended and enlarged, peduncle and flagellum bearing long glass-like setae. Gnathopods reduced and setose. Urosomite 1 weakly carinate (except B. esferis).
