Description
Summary:An adult White-tailed Eagle Haliaeetus albicilla mobbed by a Peregrine Falco peregrinus was observed above one of the quarries in Opole voivodeship on 8.06.2019. The presence of a territorial Peregrine was confirmed there on 15.06.2019, no proof of breeding was obtained however. One year later, on 24.05.2020, four Peregrine nestlings were found in a Raven Corvus corax nest, situated on a cliff ledge. Tree days later there were still three young birds present on the nest and in its immediate vicinity. It is the first breeding record of Peregrine Falcon within historic borders of Upper Silesia after a gap of almost 100 years.
