Centrobranchus nigroocellatus (Günther, 1873). Roundnose Lanternfish . 5 cm (2 in) SL (Froese and Pauly 2019; note that we were unable to verify this record). Circumglobal (Hulley and Paxton in Carpenter and De Angelis 2016); off Point Conception, California (34°12’N, 121°42.6’W) (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California) (originally identified as Centrobranchus andreae (Lütken, 1892) (Benjamin Frable); Chile (Froese and Pauly 2019; note that we were unable to verify this record).
