Summary: | Theromyzon sp. Common names: Waterfowl leech or duck leech General distribution: Holarctic (Figures 2 C, 3B, Table 1). Newfoundland: Museum specimen: Site 6 (CMNA 2006–0003). The species is undetermined since the gonopore separation could not be deciphered. Maculate pigmentation, especially evident around the dorsal edge. Previously unreported for Newfoundland and Labrador. This taxon is unusually rare for a region with an abundance of waterfowl. Published as part of Madill, Jacqueline & Hovingh, Peter, 2007, Freshwater leech (Annelida: Hirudinida) distribution in the Canadian Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and adjacent regions: check-list, new records, new pigmentation forms, and Pleistocene refugia, pp. 1-21 in Zootaxa 1657 on pages 8-9, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.179881 |
