Summary: | Strigamia sacolinensis (Meinert, 1870) * References for morphology: Meinert 1870; Seliwanoff 1884. Taxonomic notes. Described originally as a species of Scolioplanes , it was subsequently cited also under Linotaenia . Other specimens were recorded and the validity of the species was never questioned. It is assigned here to Strigamia for the first time ( new combination ), because it shares all the major diagnostic features of Strigamia (see above under “Notes on synonymies”). However, published descriptions suggest that it could be a senior synonym of either S. hirsutipes or S. japonica , because the only differential character recognized is the putative projection of the forcipules in front of the anterior margin of the head (Meinert 1870) but this condition is not known in any other species of Strigamia or related genera and it can be due to some post-mortem displacement of the head with respect to the trunk (our obs. in other geophilomorphs). Distribution: southern part of Siberia, from central Asia to Sakhalin island. Published as part of Bonato, Lucio, Dányi, László, Socci, Antonio Augusto & Minelli, Alessandro, 2012, Species diversity of Strigamia Gray, 1843 (Chilopoda: Linotaeniidae): a preliminary synthesis, pp. 1-39 in Zootaxa 3593 on page 18, DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.214898 |
