Bahía Santa Maria (24°40’N, 112°11’W), southern Baja California (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California) to Peru (Grove and Lavenberg 1997), probably as far south as northern Peru (Chirichigno and Vélez 1998), including Gulf of California (Chao in Fischer et al. 1995) and Islas Galápagos (Grove and Lavenberg 1997).
