Summary:Podothecus accipenserinus (Tilesius, 1813). Sturgeon Poacher. To 38 cm (15 in) TL (Tokranov and Orlov 2014). Pacific coast of Hokkaido, Kuril Islands, south-eastern Kamchatka, Commander, and Aleutian Islands to northern Bering Sea, Alaska near Saint Lawrence Island (Mecklenburg et al. 2016) to Point Reyes, northern California (Allen and Smith 1988). Benthic; depth: intertidal to 570 m (1,870 ft) (Mecklenburg et al. 2016) or perhaps to 710 m (2,329 ft) (Mecklenburg et al. 2016). Originally placed in genus Agonus. Usually seen spelled acipenserinus but the original, correct spelling is accipenserinus (Sheiko 1993, Sheiko and Mecklenburg 2004).
