Seas of Japan and Okhotsk, and Pacific coast of Hokkaido, Japan, to Commander–Aleutian Chain, and Bering Sea, Alaska, to eastern Chukchi Sea (70°26’N, 164°38’W) (Mecklenburg et al. 2018), to Cook Inlet, northern Gulf of Alaska (Maslenikov et al. 2013). Benthic; depth: at least 2–180 m (7–590 ft) (min.: Chereshnev et al. 2001; max.: Panchenko et al. 2016). Mecklenburg et al. (2018), citing others, give maximum depths ranging from 400–500 m (1,312 –1,640 ft).
