Summary:Sebastes jordani (Gilbert, 1896). Shortbelly Rockfish . To 35 cm (13.8 in) TL or more (Mecklenburg et al. 2002). North of Graham Island, British Columbia (54°23’N, 133°27’W) (Lynne Yamanaka, pers. comm. to M.L.) to southern Baja California (23°28’N, 110°43’W) (Snytko 1986). Granite Island, northern Gulf of Alaska record is questionable (Allen and Smith 1988); a number of larvae have been collected from south-eastern Bering Sea (Personal communication: University of Washington, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Fish Collection, Seattle, Washington). Depth: surface (nightlight: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California), adults at about 26–515 m (85–1,689 ft) (NWFSC-FRAM).
