Pelagic; depth: 152–2,160 m (500–7,085 ft) (min.: Eschmeyer and Herald 1983; max.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Prokofiev (2020) believes this species is limited to the Atlantic Ocean.
