AMAP SLCF EG emulator software and data
The AMAP SLCF EGmulti-model emulator has beenused to assess the contributions of different air pollutants and climate processes to global and Arctic temperature trends. In essence, the emulator is a simplified model of the heat, carbon and air pollutant cycles in the global Earth System. It is const...

In essence, the emulator is a simplified model of the heat, carbon and air pollutant cycles in the global Earth System. It is constrained by effective radiative forcing sensitivities and source-receptor relationships from separate ESM simulations. We used the emulator to simulate effective radiative forcing pattern changes and their impacts on global and Arctic temperatures, accounting for transport of heat to the Arctic but omitting natural climate variability, changes in natural air pollutants, land-use, and additional GHGs such as chlorofluorocarbons. The simplicity of the emulator allows us to compare the climate influences of anthropogenic GHG and air pollutant emission changes. Simulated global and Arctic net forced temperature changes are comparable to results from ESM simulations, being within the confidence range of the ESM projections.
