Very little is known about the biology of these species. To what extent adults are parasitic, or commensal, is not known although their morphology suggests a parasitic existence (Laval, 1980). Libertini and Lazzaretto (1993) provide some information on the karyotype morphology of H. dilatata Stebbing, 1888. Species : Hyperiella antarctica Bovallius, 1887; H. dilatata Stebbing, 1888; H. macronyx (Walker, 1906).
