The subdirectory Download is where you download and place all the input data (EC-Earth3 SSP585 output) by storing each variable in each sub-sub directory (i.e. download/friver). The subdirectory 'regrid' is where the interpolated data (output) will be stored, again sorting each variable with each sub-subdirectory (i.e. regrid/friver). There are three scripts: download/create_prra_from_pr_and_prsn.ipynb: used to generate prra (rainfall flux) by subtracting prsn (snowfall flux) from pr (rain+snowfall flux). This is needed because EC-Earth3 does not provide prra, while prra is needed for driving sea ice-ocean models. regrid/licalvf/create_licalvf_data.sh: used to generate licalvf (ice calving flux). Because EC-Earth3 does not provide licalvf, we prescribe licalvf from the JRA55-do v1.4, which is invariant in time. The only procedure required in this script is to change the year of the data to be 2015-2100. To be consistent with friver (river flux), we generate licalvf at monthly resolution, even though the data are identical every month. regrid/regrid_cmip_to_jra.sh: used to interpolate the downloaded EC-Earth3 data to the JRA55-do v1.4 grid using cdo remapcon for all variables except for friver, which was done by cdo remapnn. Conservative regridding (remapcon) did not work well with friver, which does not have values on every grid point, unlike the other atmospheric variables.
