Summary: | Antarctoscyphus mawsoni (Briggs, 1938) Antarctoscyphus mawsoni — Peña Cantero, 2014a: 1721, fig. 4i (synonymy). Material examined. Stn 139, a few incipient stems up to 36 mm high, on gravel (NIWA 117565); Stn 140, stem fragment 12 mm long (MNCN 2.03/627). Remarks. Species with short paired branches and, consequently, few hydrothecae. Peña Cantero (2014a) studied material that usually had a single hydrotheca, although up to four were observed. In the present material there are up to eight hydrothecae. Ecology and distribution. Shelf species found at depths between six (Naumov & Stepanjants 1972) and 527 m (Peña Cantero 2014a); present material from 231 to 240 m, on gravel. East Antarctic distribution (Peña Cantero 2014a), previously reported from off George V Coast (Briggs 1938), off Adélie Land (Naumov & Stepanjants 1972; Stepanjants, 1979) and off Queen Mary Coast (Peña Cantero 2014a). Present material is the first record from the Ross Sea, off Moubray Bay. Published as part of ÁLVARO L.
