Description
Summary:The OASIS3-MCT coupler, developed at Cerfacs in collaboration with the CNRS and the Argone National Laboratory, is widely used in the climate community. It includes the SCRIP library routines to offer to the users the possibility to calculate the weight and address files associated to the interpolations between the grids of their models, in spherical coordinates. The remapping files can now be calculated using an OpenMP+MPI hybrid parallelization of the SCRIP, leading to a large decrease of the time spent to create these files at high and very high resolution. Since 2015, we are interested in testing other remapping libraries than SCRIP to offer the OASIS users the possibility to choose a remapping method best adapted to their grids. We also observed for a long time some problems at the North pole when using the SCRIP conservative remapping. The Earth System Modeling Framework library is one of them. This library could then be an alternative to the SCRIP library to calculate the remapping files, in particular for the conservative interpolation.
