Biology Preimaginal stages inhabit a wide range of aquatic and semiaquatic habitats and can be found in ponds, mud, swamps, peat bogs, the littoral zone of lakes and saline habitats (Thienemann 1915, 1950; Mayer 1934; Szadziewski 1986; Przhiboro 1999; Chandler et al. 2008).
