Summary:Cucullia umbratica is known from Europe (from Spain to southern Fennoscandia), Russia, Afghanistan, Turkestan and Mongolia, in the Palearctic. In addition, introduction of this species to Canada has been reported recently. We report this species from Japan for the first time, from two locations at Hokkaidō. The earliest record is from 2015.
