It expands on variables defined and collected in the previous project phase, CMIP3. Each variable is defined and placed into an appropriate table in the first part of the document (first 19 tables). The tables differ by the frequency and the method specified for temporal sampling, but sometimes also indicate the primary realm within the climate system associated with the variables. A table may include variables from multiple realms, but sometimes all variables belong to a single primary realm (atmosphere, ocean, land, sea ice, land ice, or aerosol). The last 5 of these 19 tables list variables specifically requested by Phase 2 of the Cloud Feedback Model Intercomparison Project (CFMIP-2). The second part of the document (the final two tables) defines the subsets of variables requested for each CMIP5 experiment. There is also an informational page (page 1) that provides general information concerning the grids on which variables were reported and methods for computing variables. Priorities assigned to requested variables are also identified and discussed. The color key indicates when modifications were made in the subsequent tables. Highlighting changes was necessary to alert modeling groups whose simulations were underway that a change had been made to the standard output. The contents of this document were encoded into the CMIP5 CMOR tables in a format readable by the CMOR2 software used by many modeling groups to produce model output files conforming to the CMIP5 output requirements. A second file, PCMDI-CMIP5-Standard-Output-July-2013.xls, is also available, allowing easier searching and sub-table interrogation. Report Sea ice Zenodo
