Summary:The article identifies relict trees and shrubs common in the forests of the Oguz and Sheki regions, gives their classification by geological periods, and also indicates the species included in the “Red Book of the Azerbaijan Republic”. In the forest ecosystems of the studied areas, from the subtropical, evergreen Poltava flora (mesothermal relics to the Arctic flora of the III period), there are 7 relict species of woody plants belonging to 7 families and 7 genera, of these species 5 are listed in the “Red Book of the Azerbaijan Republic”. As a result of research and analysis, the species Danae rasemosa (L.) Moench were also included in the relicts of the Poltava flora. and Hedera passuchovii Woronow. In the territory of the Arctic, deciduous Turgai flora (mesothermal relics of the Arctic flora of the III period) there are 33 species of relict trees and shrubs belonging to 16 families, 25 genera. Of these, 7 species ( Alnus barbata C.A., Corylus colurna L., Castanea sativa Mill., Pterocarya pterocarpa Kunth ex I.Iljinsk.-Fraxinus coriariifolia Scheele., Pinus kochiana . Klotzsch ex K. Koch ( P. hamata (Stev), Frangula grandifolia (Fisch. et Mey.) Grub. Included in the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2013.
