Discussion: Placed in Dusicyon by Cabrera (1931) and Berta (1987, 1988), and considered as a subgenus separate from other "foxes" (i.e., culpaeus , griseus , gymnocercus , and sechurae ) by Langguth (1975) and Van Gelder (1978).
