Pipistrellus (Pipistrellus) inexspectatus Aellen 1959 Pipistrellus (Pipistrellus) inexspectatus Aellen 1959, Arch. Sci. Phys. Nat. Geneve, 12: 226. Type Locality: Cameroon, Upper Benoue Valley, Ngaaouyanga. Vernacular Names: Aellen's Pipistrelle. Distribution: Sierra Leone, Ghana, Benin, Cameroon, and Uganda. Specimens from Kenya and Dem. Rep. Congo previously referred to this species are now thought to represent eisentrauti see Koopman et al. (1995). A possible record from Sudan cannot be confirmed as the specimen is too immature to identify (M. Happold, pers. comm.). Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc). Discussion: Subgenus Pipistrellus . Often misspelled inexpectatus .
