Entomoneis paludosa (W. Smith) Reimer (Figures 104, 117) Literature: (Tatenda et al. 2015, p. 12, figs. 21–34; Witkowski et al. 2000, p. 199, pl. 109, figs. 26, 27, pl. 173, fig. 8). Description: Length 68–91 µm, width 14–18 µm, striae 20– 24 in 10 µm. Remarks: A species with variable valve outline particularly in the shape and angle of the junction (swelling) between valve face and the keel. Ecology and distribution: This is a widespread brackish-water species, found even in rivers with high salt content. In Potter Cove, it was one of the common species that was found in all samples examined. It has been reported as a sea-ice diatom from the Arctic (Brown et al. 2014).
