CLASSIFICATIONS AND STATUS OF RELICT AND RARE SPECIES DISTRIBUTED IN THE DENDROFLORA OF THE EASTERN ZANGAZUR AND KARABAKH ZONES OF AZERBAIJAN, BY GEOLOGICAL PERIODS

In the article, the relict and rare species of dendroflora of Eastern Zangezur and Karabakh zones of Azerbaijan are identified, their classification and statuses are given by geological periods. As a result of research and analysis, Taxus baccata L. was included in the relics of Poltava flora. Taxus baccata L., Platanus orientalis L. and Punica granatum L. relic species, which are considered rare plants of Azerbaijan, belonging to the subtropical, evergreen Poltava flora (Mesothermal relics to the arctic flora of the III period) are distributed in the forest ecosystems of the studied areas. Relict trees and shrubs belonging to 12 families, 20 genera, and 25 species of arctic, deciduous Turgai flora (Mesothermal relics of the III period arctic flora) are spread in the area. Of these, 9 species ( Pinus kociana Klotzsh ex. K.Koch., Castanea sativa Hill., Quercus iberica Stevan ex M.Bieb., Ficus hyrcana A.Grossh., Acer hyrcanum Fisch. Ex C.A.Mey., Betula raddeana Trautv., Corylus colurna L., Tilia begoniifolia Stev., Zelkova carpinifolia (Pall.)K.Koch.) are considered rare plants of Azerbaijan. Quercus boisseri Reut. ( Q. arachina (Trautv.) Grossh.) species is also a rare plant of Azerbaijan, it is common on the banks of the Araz River in Eastern Zangezur. It was determined that 47 rare tree and shrub species belonging to 33 genera in 22 families are distributed in the study area.
