Summary:Fig. 6.—Functional responses of deer (Odocoileus hemionus sitkensis) to old-growth and 2nd-growth classes of forest indicated by variation among individuals in selection (i.e., random effects plus mean population beta coefficient) for each variable and the mean value of the corresponding variable at available points, with Spearman's rank correlation test statistics for each relationship. Smoothed lines (black) were fit with Lowess models. Selection by deer was measured from 1 January to 1 April during 2011, 2012, and 2013 in the study area, located on Prince of Wales Island, Alaska.
