CESM2 GrIS simulation output (1992-2014): The nonlinear and distinct responses of ocean heat content and anthropogenic carbon to ice sheet freshwater discharge in a warming climate

Historical (1992-2014) output from one of four CESM2 simulations aimed at exploring the impacts of single and combined Greenlandic and Antarctic freshwater discharge on the Southern Ocean over the 21st century. Contained in these files are the primary model output variables needed to investigate ant...

Contained in these files are the primary model output variables needed to investigate anthropogenic ocean heat and carbon content, sea ice fraction, and meridional overturning circulation. "GrIS" refers to a simulation with increasing liquid and solid freshwater runoff from the Greenland Ice Sheet. "hist" refers to the period from Jan 1992 - Dec 2014 which was run under historical CMIP6 atmospheric forcing. Each variable is output as a global field with ∼0.9×1.25∘∼0.9×1.25∘ horizontal resolution and monthly temporal resolution. Potential density and temperature both contain 60 depth levels. Ocean Heat Content 1. "FW_GrIS_hist.pop.h.TEMP.199201-201412.nc" contains the temperature field from Jan 1992 - Dec 2014 for the GrIS simulation 2. "FW_GrIS_hist.pop.h.SALT.199201-201412.nc" contains the salinity field from Jan 1992 - Dec 2014 for the GrIS simulation Ocean Carbon Content 3. "FW_GrIS_hist.pop.h.DIC.199201-201412.nc" contains the dissolved inorganic carbon field from Jan 1992 - Dec 2014 for the GrIS simulation 4. "FW_GrIS_hist.pop.h.DIC_ALT_CO2.199201-201412.nc" contains the dissolved inorganic carbon (altervative CO2) field from Jan 1992 - Dec 2014 for the GrIS simulation Meridional Overturning Circulation 5.
